From the reviews

David is an incredible acupuncturist and herbalist. He knows so much about herbs to help various skin conditions and recently helped me by sharing an herbal nose spray that has made my constant runny nose and post-nasal drip go away!

★★★★★ — Erin, Jan 2020

David Heron of Oakland Hills Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine deserves 10 stars - 5 for his skills in acupuncture and chinese medicine. And 5 for being a healer. He was referred by my ENT as an skilled person - so he has that both eastern and western connection.

★★★★★ — Carol, Jan 2020

I started visiting Dr. Heron in May when I was 5 months into Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW). My face was the most affected and I had rashes that spread throughout my body that was caused by prolong use of steroids (off and on use throughout my entire life).

★★★★★ — Samantha, Sep 2021

David’s treatment cleared my child’s persistent eczema. My child struggled with eczema for years and tried different medical treatments. The progress always plateaued. When we turned to David, we decided to stop the other treatments and follow his approach.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
