Great and friendly staff. Jonathan has been helpful from the start. Came in with a super stiff neck and was recommended some cupping with acupuncture. After that I was able to move my neck around which was great, because I had a Spartan race event coming up in the weekend.
Came into Numo to get acupuncture for the first time to address back spasms and pain I had recently. Worked with Guillermo for the first session and he did a great job answering questions I had and made me feel more at ease.
I just wanted to write this review to thank the staff at Numo. I have experienced upper back and chest tension for almost a decade now. I have had several physical examination and had manual therapies from multiple therapists over the years. However, none of them worked well and I have not felt much better.
I am so happy I found Numo! I had a place I was going to in San Diego for years. I recently moved to San Jose and went on the hunt. After reading the yelp reviews I took a chance and beyond happy I did. Dr. G is amazing. I am a yoga instructor and an active human.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
