My husband and I have been participating in several of the different yoga classes for about 6 months. I have been to the beginners yoga, relax and restore, low impact yoga, and Vinyasa Flow yoga classes and have been led by 4 of the instructors at this facility.
I started getting acupuncture here after struggling with infertility for 2 years. I had tried everything western medicine had to offer besides IVF. I wanted to try acupuncture before venturing into that. After 4 months of weekly treatments with Heather and also drinking herbs, I got pregnant with our miracle baby girl!
I love going to Neighborhood Acupuncture. Heather and Stephen are warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable. I've been to several acupuncturists over the years for my shoulder and back issues and even though they all helped to some degree, I never had the same experience as with Neighborhood Acupuncture.
Heather is amazing! I had been seeing her initially for menstrual issues and then knee pain, a few years after I first started coming here I began sessions to help me through IVF. I had multiple sessions leading up to the egg retrieval, and then one the day before, the next day, and a week after the transfer.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
