…I've been to a few massages in my life and all of them seem to hurt and bruise me. Well, Elissa changed all of that! Not only was she super conscious of how I was feeling, she knew exactly how much pressure to put where and how to make it both beneficial and relaxing at the same time.
Momentum recently moved to Larchmont. Their space has large rooms and is decorated to perfection with a welcoming ambiance- not to mention that all their services are top notch. The owner Elissa is very particular about her practice and who she hires. Everyone is wonderful and extremely talented.
Elissa is the best, hands down! I live in AZ and as soon as I knew I would be in the area of NY I quickly made my appointment. She has an amazing talent/gift of reading someone’s body including tense spots, previous injuries, and gives her attention to each. She can design a plan that suits YOU!
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
