After a mountain bike injury in June I was unable to participate in MMA training, hockey, and struggled daily with neck/shoulder/back pain. I knew I had to try something beyond daily stretching which led me to Sarah at Mind Body Movement.
I highly recommend Mind Body Movement and Sarah for anyone looking for a truly transformative bodywork experience. Sarah is an expert at her work and takes time to really get to know clients in order to provide the best treatment to support a healthy, vital life.
I highly recommend seeing Sarah for a massage. She works with you to figure out the areas you want to address and uses a variety of methods to target your muscles and improve blood flow. I had cupping done for the first time with her, and she made me feel safe and comfortable trying this new technique.
I've gotten a massage from Sarah twice now, and she's been great! I can tell that she is knowledgable and passionate about the body. She genuinely cares that all my concerns are addressed and that I'm feeling better after. She has done a blend of manual deep tissue work, cupping and theragun.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
