Meeha Mind Body is my happy place! I initially came to Denise for some upper back pain and neck pain. The pain lessened after the first session, and a few sessions later I was pain and tension free! My neck hasn't felt this good in years.
Denise is such a gift!! She’s able to meet you where you’re at and then support you in your process. I’m so glad I found a fellow Chicagoan who understand both that experience and integrates PDX culture. Even better she is also Mexican (and Polish) and I don’t need to translate significant cultural ways.
I can not say enough about how incredible Denise is as a practitioner, healer, and all around human being. She puts so much energy into making sure she can do the best for her patients as possible. I have a very complicated case and feel very safe and cared for every time we have a session.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
