From the reviews
I recently went to Ahmed for Hijama and was initially a bit curious and unsure about the process. However, Ahmed made the entire experience very comfortable with his vast knowledge and calming presence.
My experience with Fatima was beautiful. She took the time to explain everything to me beforehand and I really appreciate that they asked about any allergies to skincare products beforehand - I think this is the first time I've ever been asked this in advance when getting a massage/body treatment.
It is almost impossible to describe the “MAGIC” of Ahmed’s hands. He is, by far, without a doubt, THE BEST massage therapist i have EVER experienced. Not only is he well trained and tuned in to his client’s needs, he is responsive to their requests.
Usually, when Ahmed asks if any part of my body is troubling me, I'm able to answer "no." This last visit came when I had been suffering a sore elbow for over two months, so I finally could say "yes." He spent a good amount of time working on an area above my elbow and I couldn't see how that was going to help.
Booking hijama (wet cupping) at Massage Therapy / Hijama by Ahmed
Massage Therapy / Hijama by Ahmed comes up as a provider that offers hijama — wet cupping, where the skin is lightly punctured after suction so a small amount of blood is drawn. If you're booking hijama specifically, a few things are worth asking before you go. First, sterility is everything — a reputable practitioner uses a fresh, single-use kit (new blades and cups) for every client and follows clean, gloved technique. It's completely fair to ask how they handle this. Second, many people booking hijama want a same-gender practitioner — ask whether that can be arranged. Third, ask about aftercare and whether they observe particular days if that matters to you.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
