What clients say about the cupping here
“I was struggling with chronic back pain and neck issues and had tried everything before deciding to give acupuncture a shot.”
“I've also learned so much how the different systems in my body function holistically and what food to eat (Chris provided a very thorough outline of recommendations for nutrition).”
“This transformation was not only due to the acupuncture itself but also Chris’s incredible ability to explain Chinese medicine in a way that resonated deeply with my Western perspective.”
“Not only is Chris’s incredibly knowledgeable, but they also take the time to explain the process, making me feel comfortable and confident in the treatment.”
“I had been dealing with neck and back issues that were very painful and limited my range of motion, and to my surprise, acupuncture helped increase my mobility, range of motion, and elevated pain.”
“Most recently, I have been experiencing chronic gout flares despite eating clean and living a healthy lifestyle.”
“I was seeking internal relief, a reset for my nervous system, and a deeper clarity about the gift of the human body.”
From the reviews
I originally came to see Chris for back pain, which cleared up immediately with his acupuncture and cupping techniques. However, we also talked about my medical history…I’d been dealing with constant inflammation (rashes, styes), digestive issues, and feeling perpetually “off” despite appearing healthy.
I had the absolute pleasure of working with Chris at Luminate. From the moment I walked into his studio, I knew I was in good hands. Chris possesses a rare and invaluable quality in a healthcare practitioner – the ability to truly listen.
Had pain from my lower back to my buttock that, despite a massage from a PT was worsening over two weeks. Walking, esp. up/down stairs was getting increasingly painful and I thought I might have to postpone an upcoming trip.
Today starts my 3rd week with Chris and I can't put into words how grateful I am to have found him as a true partner on my healing journey. I have long experienced challenges with imbalances in my gut which have caused a number of other systemic issues in my body.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
