From the reviews

Kevin Cates is a master heeler. He really knows how the human body operates, what causes pain, and how to correct it. I snowboard in Lake Tahoe over 50 days a year and often over do it. When my back gets sore or I tweak my knee, I immediately book an appointment with Kevin.

★★★★★ — Mark, Aug 2024

Kevin saved my life. Really my anxiety was at an extreme level and I am not sure where it would have taken me without Kevin’s calming expertise. He listened to my rambling of symptoms and I felt heard by him His first treatment really allowed me to calm my nerves dramatically.

★★★★★ — Mark, Nov 2024

Kevin Cates is a truly extraordinary acupuncturist and healer. You can immediately feel that he knows what he is doing and has extensive knowledge and experience. He is also highly intuitive and has a magical healing touch. I felt like Kevin truly cared about me.

★★★★★ — Vajra, Jun 2025

I came to Kevin by a recommendation of my good friend. She mentioned he works on her problem areas and he really does wonders and makes her feel amazing. I went in for a sprained ankle from the 6th grade that never healed right. Along with a pinched nerve in my back.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
