What clients say about the cupping here
“Very accommodating with appointments Well mannered Professional Knowledgeable Respectful”
“Joe is very welcoming and makes the experience enjoyable.”
From the reviews
This past August I injured my upper back and it also caused severe pain in my left arm. Rather than seeking treatment from my doctor at the West Haven V. A. I decided to again try Acupuncture with Joe Downer, as it had helped previously with unrelated pain. It took several visits a week for about a month.
Joe is very welcoming and makes the experience enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Stratford acupuncture to anyone that’s what to try or continue acupuncture.
lasting improvements in so many of my issues! go here if you want to feel better, really works!!
Not only did I get a last minute appointment but I was also able to get the treatment I needed to help with the pain and stiffness I was experiencing. Joe does a great job and takes the time to answer my questions.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
