I’ve been to Healing Haven twice now, both with Chelsea, and she’s amazing. I have gone for a combination of massaging/cupping, and the prices are very reasonable.
I can not say enough about my experience with Healing Haven Massage and Wellness, and in particular, with John Maxson. After just one massage with John, I stopped going to my regular massage therapist, and made John my new provider.
I saw the owner of this massage practice Michele. She was extremely professional and well versed in her craft. From the start she probed carefully through my complex symptoms that I was experiencing, and had great listening skills.
I've been going to see Michele for about 15 years now and she is the best holistic massage therapist I know. Let me tell you I've known quite a few massage therapists. I have been to several places and she is always improving, always learning and customizing her skills to her customers.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
