I had a wonderful one hour massage by Melissa this evening. She knew just where I was needing work the most from my intake information (which I appreciate that she read) and asking me questions as well as trusting her own intuition.
Both my husband and I had massages and the salt room. We had a wonderful experience. The staff were fantastic and very knowledgeable. Jillian was our therapist and I was very impressed by how responsive she was to ensuring the massage was the right amount of pressure. She worked out some deep knots from my back.
I went in looking for more information about the services offered at Halo and Brooke answered all my questions and gave me a brief tour. I decided to give the salt room a try and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was hoping that it would help with my congestion and when I came out I could breathe easier.
I already knew salt was a natural cleanser, and it makes sense that salt therapy would be great for the respiratory system and skin (think beachy air) but I did not realize how effective the salt room (and tent) would be for clearing out sinus and chest congestion, or how quickly it would make such a drastic…
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
