Julie works diligently and attentively to get to know my issues. She addresses and treats the root causes, not just the symptoms. She has a comprehensive approach and often helps treat multiple issues with each session.

★★★★★ — Channing, May 2022

2 years ago when I went for my first appointment I was a little nervous and Julie made sure that before I left I felt comfortable! Ever since I have loved going and feel very comfortable and welcomed! I have fibermyalgia and Julie has helped me so much with managing my pain with the use of acupuncture!

★★★★★ — Anya, Apr 2025

My 16-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Fibromyalgia in the fall of 2022. Her main symptom was fatigue, in fact, she did not have enough energy to attend high school and her numerous medical appointments. Fibromyalgia caused her issues with pain and body sensitivity, and so acupuncture was very hurtful.

Booking hijama (wet cupping) at Foothills Acupuncture & Wellness

Foothills Acupuncture & Wellness comes up as a provider that offers hijama — wet cupping, where the skin is lightly punctured after suction so a small amount of blood is drawn. If you're booking hijama specifically, a few things are worth asking before you go. First, sterility is everything — a reputable practitioner uses a fresh, single-use kit (new blades and cups) for every client and follows clean, gloved technique. It's completely fair to ask how they handle this. Second, many people booking hijama want a same-gender practitioner — ask whether that can be arranged. Third, ask about aftercare and whether they observe particular days if that matters to you.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
