What clients say about the cupping here
“Originally, I came in for some neuropathy in one of my hands, but Andrew has been able to address stress, low energy, and issues with lower back pain that I have as well.”
“Young Kim is compassionate, knowledgeable, thorough and most importantly, he listens to what is happening in your body so you see the full picture.”
“Kim not only takes the time to listen and respond to my needs, but he has also shared so much incredible information about the practice of acupuncture and other Eastern medicine practices.”
“After my first treatment, my neck and shoulders felt more relaxed than they had in years.”
“Treatments have been very helpful in improving range of motion and pain relief for my frozen shoulder.”
“I tried acupuncture for the first time due to lingering muscle-related backpain around my shoulder blades and neck.”
From the reviews
I started seeing Dr. Kim since spring 2017 for acupuncture treatment for my chronic neck, shoulder, and upper back pain that I get from an office job. I got a pinched nerve with burning sensation in my neck and shoulder which extended to my upper left arm early this year and had to work with a physical therapist for…
I believe Dr. Kim at Essential Kirkland Clinic deserves to be called the “Huatuo of the United States.” Huatuo was a legendary ancient Chinese physician known for his extraordinary healing abilities, and Dr. Kim has earned that comparison in my experience. For years, I struggled with chronic shoulder and back pain.
I cannot recommend Essential Acupuncture highly enough. I had no idea what to expect before being treated by Dr. Kim as I have never received acupuncture before. It has been more effective than I ever could have imagined. I have been experiencing lower back pain due to inflamed nerves since mid-July.
I started visiting Essential Acupuncture after a car accident earlier this year. I had never done acupuncture before. I have to say that I believe seeing them so soon after was a key element in my helping my healing. Almost felt magical! My body and muscles were super tense and all out of sorts given the accident.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
