Wish there were 10 stars for Dr Eric and team. As an old (and slow) endurance athlete I put my body through a lot and Dr Eric has worked his magic multiple times to help me get back on the race course. He is always willing to go the extra mile and makes sure that I understand the solution so I stay injury free.
I broke my tibia the summer before my junior year of college and was super bummed about it. That being said I was definitely NOT excited to go to pt and nervous because this was my first major injury.
The best therapy I ever received. Just came home from Florida. Will be coming back after Dr appt for balance. Eric goings above and beyond to help his patients.
Booking hijama (wet cupping) at Eric Stivers, PT, DPT, OCS
Eric Stivers, PT, DPT, OCS comes up as a provider that offers hijama — wet cupping, where the skin is lightly punctured after suction so a small amount of blood is drawn. If you're booking hijama specifically, a few things are worth asking before you go. First, sterility is everything — a reputable practitioner uses a fresh, single-use kit (new blades and cups) for every client and follows clean, gloved technique. It's completely fair to ask how they handle this. Second, many people booking hijama want a same-gender practitioner — ask whether that can be arranged. Third, ask about aftercare and whether they observe particular days if that matters to you.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
