From the reviews
I was very pleased with Dr. Nicky Rieks' professionalism from the beginning. She responded promptly and Dr. Nicky was able to schedule an appointment within two days. At 36 weeks pregnant, my goal was to turn my baby head down without attempting through ECV.
Dr. Nicky is always welcoming and professional, and has a pleasant and accommodating space in downtown Anoka. There is ample free parking and easy access to the building and office for people of all abilities.
The first time I saw Dr Nicky I was suffering from a full on migraine attack. After that first treatment I was able to go home and function. I was able to take care of my kids, make dinner, help with homework, do everything I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to do because of the migraine.
Dr. Nicky at Dr. Nicky Acupuncture in Anoka was thoughtful, thorough, and had a good sense of humor. She made me feel comfortable and safe. But most importantly, she *helped*. I’ve been to several acupuncturists over decades and Nicky has a gentle and effective approach.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
