…We both also had fire cupping incorporated into our sessions, which was definitely interesting and something new for us. Unfortunately, my experience felt a bit different. Right away, my massage therapist mentioned that the room was cold and seemed very concerned about the temperature.
…I finished it with fire cupping. I work remote. I sit a lot and although I exercise, I’m very tense all the time. I have chronic tightness in my neck as well as my back and hips. Started having knee problems, taking note that everything was out of alignment. It was affecting everything walking, even my sleep.
…Fire cupping, glorious amount, you’ll never go back to regular air cupping. Thank you to Cathy. Excellent work relieving tensions and relaxing my muscles. Some serious elbow actions but feel good fatigue and refreshed. During the session although I was feeling the strong pressure applied I was surprised that my health watch detected that I was in a state of sleep.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
