I came to City Acupuncture after my friend raved about the thoughtful and responsive treatments she received for her wrist. She had tried more traditional methods and not felt any relief. Since I had chronic back pain, I decided to give acupuncture a try. I was grateful I did!
These folks are the best! I'm a repeat user of acupuncture and have been to many acupuncturists over the years. They offer excellent treatments and are always on-point. Joselo and Seth are attentive, compassionate, and easy to talk with. Their treatments have consistently rebalanced me.
Wonderful experience! This is a community acupuncture environment. Each person signs up for a start time, an Acupuncturist will do a quiet eval, then take you to a bed (Clinic style) for your treatment. I have been here 5 times (1-2 times my last visits to DC). Payment due is on a sliding scale.
Acupuncture at its best by a master who lives to help others. Joselo sets a gentle tone in a community atmosphere. Can he do something for high blood pressure? Of course. Need a cure for land sickness after being at sea? Try Joselo. I think it's better than a massage for muscle knots and sore spots.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
