From the reviews

Thank you for helping my dog bite wound heal quickly! I went to Katie due to a bad dog bite on my abdomen which was very painful; after a few treatments the inflammation was greatly reduced along with the pain (pain so bad it made sleep difficult).

Katherine and Brendan's combined experience in the practice of acupuncture and the healing arts is vast and offers its community the opportunity to seek health and healing through traditional Chinese medicine, herbology, and Jin Shin Jyutsu. I've been a patient of Katherine's for years...

I am a local chiropractor and I refer all of my patients who are in need of acupuncture evaluation and treatment to the Center for Acupuncture and Healing Arts. I have many patients who have been extremely pleased with the holistic health benefits they have seen from care by both Katherine & Brendan.

I was always curious about acupuncture but did not have an identifiable reason to go until a couple years ago. I tried it out and was hooked. Katie and Brendan are both awesome - I come on a regular basis for whatever is troubling me and always leave feeling better than when I arrived.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
