From the reviews
Dr. Joe is hands down one of the best physical therapists I have ever worked with. After dealing with a persistent foot pain for the last few years, I was at wit’s end trying to find the cause.
I came to Dr. Joe Camisa for herniated disc and hip flexor issues after exhausting eight months of other treatments, from conventional physical therapy to epidural injections. Faced with the last resort option of a microdiscectomy, I researched the surgery and stumbled upon Dr. McGill’s book, The Back Mechanic.
If you’re looking for a small practice where the doctor of physical therapy spends a minimum of 30 minutes one on one with each patient, then this is the place to go. Dr. Joe Camisa is a skilled and caring McGill Master Clinician who spends quality time with each patient every session.
Dr. Joe has treated me for a a little over a year now and I can just say I most definitely would not be where I am today without him. I have been to multiple physical therapy places throughout my athletic career so far and Camisa stood out the most by a long shot. The hands on and personalized experience is next level.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
