From the reviews

Updated 11/22/2022 I just finished a 6 session series with David over the last 3 weeks. My intention going in was to address old stress and trauma patterns in my shoulders and neck as well as my hips. My work as a farmer is physically demanding and I was tired of being in pain all the time.

★★★★★ — Daniela, Nov 2022

I had an hour & 1/2 shoulder-focused massage and cupping session with Maia. To start, I was pleased that Boulder Cupping Therapy takes Covid precautions seriously and created a safe and welcoming space. I was even more pleased to find that Maia is a wonderful massage therapist.

★★★★☆ — Angela, May 2021

Amazing! I have had massage for a number of years and tried cupping from BCT for the first time and will just say wow! It helped so much with my tight hips and shoulder tension, it was amazing. Gretchen is so knowledgeable and thoughtful and spent time pre session to get to know me, my areas of concern and goals.

★★★★★ — Jason, Jun 2021

I've been blessed enough to have received bodywork all over the world and from all kinds of practitioners. So I don't say it lightly that Gretchen is up there as some of the best bodywork I've ever experienced and definitely top-notch in Colorado.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
