From the reviews

My sister-in-law sent me to Body Wisdom as a gift, and I benefitted so greatly that I have returned many times. The atmosphere is wonderfully calm and relaxing, and Amber’s work is truly therapeutic to both body and spirit. It is an excellent value as well. I live in Ann Arbor but it’s worth the trip into Dexter.

Kirt always does a great job getting the knots and painful spots without causing me to feel beat up the next day. As someone with a connective tissue disease, chronic pain, and a busy schedule, that's HUGE.

Really enjoyed my visit today with Trena. I'm from CT so this was a one time thing, but I was impressed with her bodywork skills, how effective she was in locating and treating my areas of pain and stress (hips especially), and how much better/lighter I felt when I left!

★★★★★ — Cyndia, May 2025

Body Wisdom has been my go to for self care for several years. It's a lovely space with an incredibly talented team of staff! They were able to squeeze me in today on last minute notice and it's this kind of customer service and flexibility that makes me grateful and keeps me coming back!

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
