From the reviews

I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Madeline at Black River Acupuncture. I began having bicep pain in the fall of 2016. After months of resting it, I tried chiropractic care and medical massage. With no relief, I began physical therapy and home excercises.

Black River Acupuncture is very professional, from the minute you walk in till you walk out. Made me feel comfortable. Dr.Mans asked me a lot of questions to help treat me effectively.

I see Jesse to manage symptoms from long-haul COVID and she is phenomenal! Jesse listens intently at the start of each appointment, tailors the acupuncture to address my most pressing needs and treats accordingly! Sometimes adding on reflexology to boost results.

My first experience with Dr Madeline De Jonge was exciting, informative and the beginning of my new approach to eastern medicine. Dr De Jonge is now part of my wellness plan. Thank you for being in Holland and taking interest in working with Sharon and I.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
