Dr. Wheatley was so great to work with & I highly recommend to anyone who experiences a new injury or lingering pain from a previous injury. Dr. Claire is so patient and attentive to the needs of her patients. She has helped my headaches and shoulder weaknesses immensely. Claire offers multiple modalities (like cupping and dry needling) to help relieve pain and increase strength based on each individuals need.
We contacted Beyond Physical Therapy with an urgent, non-standard need after my mother-in-law suffered a stroke overseas and returned to the U.S. Claire reached out after business hours to understand our situation and confirm support. In-home therapy started immediately.
I came to Beyond PT after struggling with lower back pain that chiropractic therapy hadn’t improved, and after years of being told by other physical therapists and orthopedic doctors that my foot and knee issues were simply stemming from my hips and SI joint.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
