I went yesterday to AMS to get massages for myself my father l, and a friend for holiday gifts to them! It was my father’s first massage! My dad has mobility issues! This was a lovely spa experience! My Fiancé and I decided to take a last minute winter trip to Ithaca and were looking to treat ourselves. We called the day before and they were able to arrange a couples massage for us within less than 24 hours notice.
Booked 4 last minute treatments with friends while here for a long weekend. The team at august moon was extremely accommodating and worked with us to get all four of us a service with less than 24 hours notice. As soon as arrived, we were greatly warmly, and shown to the dressing rooms.
We always make a special trip to visit August Moon! The entire staff is so welcoming and warm (shout out to the lovely Taylor at the front desk). My Mom always sees Phoenix for deep tissue massages and she swears it is the most healing treatment she has received!
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
