From the reviews
Best massages ever! I (M49) get a 90 minute deep tissue massage from Jovina monthly. My back keeps getting better. A life working in the carpentry, plaster and tile trades leaves its mark on your body. Since starting with Jovina, I haven't been laid up with back trouble in over a year. Thank you!
Jo is a great massage therapist. When you enter, the space is welcoming and peaceful. Jo communicates well before, during and after your massage. She asks what you want to focus on, checks in about pressure during the massage and gives you ideas for how to care for your body when you walk out of her studio.
As someone with chronic pain and headaches, I was so thrilled to come across Jo. She is responsive and extremely skilled and intuitive at personalizing the massage to address what a person may need.
I’ve been looking for a massage therapist that can provide a deep tissue treatment. Jo was able to get those stubborn knots bothering me for the longest time. I am absolutely satisfied with the treatment that she did. Will definitely coming back. Highly recommended.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
