From the reviews
I had my first acupuncture experience with Tamra and it was amazing. She is thorough and makes sure you know what she’s doing next. The whole time you are in session it is peaceful and relaxing with music and her guiding you to relaxation. I also had a hot cupping experience.
In a moment when I desperately needed healing and was facing an unexpected and frightening health situation, I searched online and found Dr. Tamara Portalla. While waiting for my connecting flight for a business trip, I booked an appointment with her, hoping for some relief.
I have been seeing Dr. Tamra for about 15 months now. She does acupuncture and cupping and has helped ease stubborn back and hip pain with these techniques. I very much appreciate her positive attitude and intuitive healing gifts. Her rooms are beautiful and calming.
This place is terrific. I have received both acupuncture and cupping, and these treatments have done wonders for my lower back tightness (bulging disc) and my recovery from an inflamed shoulder condition. I always leave feeling extremely relaxed. Dr. Tamra has an incredible healing aura and super friendly manner.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
