From the reviews
So for the first time in my 34.5 years of life, I tried acupuncture & cupping and I feel like I have a completely new body. 🔥 I went to Alma Acupuncture in Fishtown, where I tried their Somatic Acupressure Integration with the incredible Franchesca Isaac. Let me get this out of the way -- it doesn't hurt at all.
Francesca is absolutely wonderful. She does a blend of both acupuncture and cupping which has help me with my chronic lower back pain and anxiety. Since I started sessions in November both issues have become manageable, and I even have days that both are nonexistent. I cannot recommend her enough.
Love Alma, so kind, warm and really know how to “fix” whatever your ailment is… pulled muscle, back pain, stress, you name it. Always a thoughtful and personalized routine for what you need whether it’s cupping, acupuncture and even tens with needles. Highly recommend
I’ve had a very positive experience with Franchesca. She is very sweet and knowledgeable. I immediately felt relief in my shoulder tension after my first session. If you’ve been curious about acupuncture and cupping, i highly recommend checking her out!
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
