From the reviews

I feel so incredibly fortunate to have found Maya. After my recent car accident I knew I wanted to try acupuncture and hoped to find someone on the East side of Portland who also accepted Kaiser.

Maya is AMAZING and I am so glad I found her! I came to her with a pinched nerve in my left shoulder and after several sessions together, I'm back to feeling brand new. She also does cupping and a trigger release with a tool, so she has a lot of different techniques to try.

To say that this is the best acupuncture clinic in SE Portland would be an understatement. My experience is with Lauren Love LAc, who works in the clinic with Maya. Lauren is an incredible listener and really has an extra special gift of healing people!

Wow. Where do I begin? Maya is flat out amazing! I’ve had chronic ankle pain for over a year and with weekly acupuncture appointments, I can happily say I am no longer suffering. Maya has such a warm and kind spirit. I highly recommend her to anyone, especially if you’re on the fence about acupuncture.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
