Cupping and acupuncture with Sunae changed my daily life. I used to have constant neck and shoulder tension . Now its completely gone . Total relief👍
I’ve been seeing my acupuncturist for over 10 years now, and I can't recommend her enough. With 15 years of experience, she has helped me through so much. She first practiced in Wisconsin before opening her own practice in downtown Chicago, and now she’s in Northbrook, which is so convenient for me.
I’m so grateful that I no longer have to travel all the way to downtown Chicago for treatments. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical about acupuncture at first, but after seeing the incredible difference it made for my wife, I decided to give it a try.
I first met Sun-Ae in downtown Chicago when I was struggling with a 7-centimeter benign tumor on my ovary. The pain was unbearable, but I didn’t want to undergo surgery or rely on medication. Even though I had never believed in acupuncture before, I decided to give it a try.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
