I've beens seeing Dr. Michelle (owner of Zen Den) for over 10 years. She is incredibly skilled in her craft (I've had massage, acupuncture, and cupping). She also has a warm yet straight forward and informative bed side manner. Today I had my first massage with Haylee, who was incredible.
I had a beautiful experience with Haylee Hickman at Zen Den the other day. I received a massage with cupping and energy work weaved in. I came in feeling a bit out of whack, and left feeling major bodily shifts.
Been coming here for a few years for support during back to back pregnancies - I've enjoyed the community acupuncture model for a quick treatment and also love Dr Michelle's massage & acupuncture / cupping private sessions. Their new location on Higuera is gorgeous. Highly recommended!!!

What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
