From the reviews

I highly recommend Marlene! I recently suffered a sudden "massive" herniation in my lower back and had to have surgery. I had severe restrictions post op and by the time I was scheduled with Marlene I continued to have weakness, nerve pain in my leg and limited mobility of my entire spine.

For years I have had chronic knee pain and avoided doing anything about it until I had to walk with a cane for balance and pain management. I was referred to Marlene for physical therapy. I had never been so I really did not know what to expect. Marlene was patient, kind and listened.

★★★★★ — Judith, Mar 2019

Marlene worked on my son, whom one morning woke with a stiff neck. My son was at first very timid of the exercises but Marlene immediately made him feel at ease by her confidence and her tenderness during the exercises. Thank you Marlene for your professionalism and guidance!

★★★★★ — Michelle, Feb 2019

I was born with a rare congenital myopathy that many physical therapists have never heard of before. In fact so much so that I was turned away from offices due to their fear of the unknown on how to treat me. Thankfully I was finally referred to Marlene Mireles!

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
