I have been going to Van Ness Chiropractic for a few years now. Dr Jeff Parkin has been wonderful to work with. He has helped me to get my spine back into better shape, and is helping me to keep it that way. Before I started coming here I could hardly sit in my chair for work every day.

★★★★★ — Donna, Nov 2025

Can’t say enough good things. I have been seeing Dr Parkin on and off for a little over a year. I work out 5 days a week and anytime I tweak my back, he’s my go to to get back on track. You can really tell he has the experience and understanding for any situation. He recommended a massage an acupuncture as well.

★★★★★ — James, Mar 2026

Everyone at Van Ness is excellent from the doctors to the office staff. They have always been very compassionate with getting me in quickly for treatment during an acute issue and have excellent availability for routine care as well. I always feel better when I leave there!

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
