From the reviews
Dr. Mariana is amazing! I went to her for cupping based on a recommendation from my lactation consultant to support breastfeeding and she was so knowledgeable and super helpful. I implemented her recommendations and they really helped. Highly recommend to everyone especially breastfeeding moms.
I've had multiple visits here and each time I feel very cared for. Dr. Mariana has even taken time to further research about my symptoms to help me. I've received acupuncture, cupping, and homeopathic injections. Everything went smoothly and provided the relief I was seeking! Thank you!
I have received B12, Mic, D3 injections, cupping and acupuncture. Very happy with my results and continue to get results. Highly recommend if you want to feel better and improve your overall quality of life.
As a Veterans, I’ve dealt with chronic pain for years, and finding effective, compassionate care hasn’t always been easy. Dr. Mariana at Tonantzin Acupuncture Center has truly been a blessing in my pain management journey.
Booking hijama (wet cupping) at Tonantzin Acupuncture Center
Tonantzin Acupuncture Center comes up as a provider that offers hijama — wet cupping, where the skin is lightly punctured after suction so a small amount of blood is drawn. If you're booking hijama specifically, a few things are worth asking before you go. First, sterility is everything — a reputable practitioner uses a fresh, single-use kit (new blades and cups) for every client and follows clean, gloved technique. It's completely fair to ask how they handle this. Second, many people booking hijama want a same-gender practitioner — a female practitioner is available here. Third, ask about aftercare and whether they observe particular days if that matters to you.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
