From the reviews

I’ve been seen at the Medical Massage Clinic of Durham for about six months now, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say. Tonya Wooten has been working with me on a whiplash injury from a car accident I was in last summer.

★★★★★ — Ricky, Mar 2023

Absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend to anyone who has special massage needs (and they can definitely handle typical relaxation bodywork as well). The therapists are well trained and listen to what is happening with my body and adjust my session each time.

★★★★★ — Angela, Mar 2022

Tonya Wooten is an exceptional massage therapist. From a purely medical perspective, she is knowledgeable about the human body and knows how to successfully treat areas of chronic pain and discomfort. Tonya is also emotionally adept at dealing with her clients.

★★★★★ — C., Mar 2020

I’ve been working with Beth since my prenatal massage. She’s professional, kind, efficient, and is very responsive to my requests/questions. I liked her so much that I continue to have regular visits after my delivery. Highly recommended!!

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
