From the reviews
Everyone at the Bodhi Tree is friendly, caring, knowledgeable, & compassionate. Each knows her specialty well & provides great service. Whether it's a massage, float therapy, acupuncture, fire cupping, etc.
I went for a 60 minute float a few months back, and was excited and also a little nervous as this was a new experience for me. I was interested in trying float therapy because I have heard of the benefits for those living with PTSD and trauma. When I arrived, she explained everything so well and made me feel at ease!
The First 5-10 mins were kinda scary for me. But after that I enjoyed it. One of the most important things for me was the cleanliness of the tub because of the Covid. But it was really clean and you can lock the door and be comfortable.
Ally, Rachel and company save me every time I visit. I first came to Bodhi Tree for community acupuncture as I believe the center was the only one offering community-style service in Lawrence at the time.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
