What a great little spot. I was not expecting the busy retail vibe at the entrance and had to wait quite a while to get checked in but check in was informative and thorough. Private changing room, separate bathroom, lockers with keys to store your things. Sanctuary room was beautiful and thoughtfully designed.
I used to go to Gene Juarez for when I wanted a really amazing "treat yourself" experience. I haven't gone in at least a few years and was sad to find out they no longer offer massage services.
I just saw Haley last night for a lip flip and I was just blown away. She was so much fun and knowledgeable. She was very thorough in my consultation and calmed any fears I had. I have a very low pain tolerance and I hate needles.
Awesome spa BUT my online account was HACKED. Been a patron here for a couple years. Recently, someone hacked my online account and made an appointment, went to the appointment, and used my saved credit card on file to pay for the appointment. Very upsetting! Don’t save your credit card online on their website!!
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
