First time ever having a massage. Came across SK Theraputic through the Bham Wellness Passport program. It was a great experience. I felt really comfortable throughout the entire appointment. We scheduled a couples massage and both had a positive experience.
I highly recommend this place. Sharon did a great job massaging my back and she suggested the fire cupping due to the severe tension in my back due to falling on it. I had been in pain for over a week and after this on the next day I was pain free.
Just left here and I have to say that it really was the best massage experience I've ever had. I agree with the other reviews when they say it's peaceful, relaxing, serene. Ms. Sharon obviously takes her profession serious and she does it extremely well
Sharon is amazing! I wish I could give her more than 5 stars! I have struggled with chronic back pain and inflammation for many years due to my scoliosis. The only thing that really seems to help is proper massage therapy and yoga/core strengthening exercises.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
