I lived in Irvine for over 20 years and recently moved to the Laguna Niguel area. Since I’m someone who needs to get a massage once or twice a week, I had to find a new massage place after moving here. When I lived in Irvine, I used to go to a Korean-style spa called lSpa.
Matthew at Royal Thai Massage was absolutely excellent. Before coming in, I was at a point where it hurt to even walk, and he completely alleviated my pain. From the moment I arrived, he created such a calming and professional experience. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly very skilled at what he does.
Beyond professional; beyond knowledgeable; totally authentic; and so committed to addressing issues in the body. I’m so impressed. I have had so many incredible Thai massages, this one is by far gold standard.
May was fantastic! I had a 90 minute Thai massage to take care of tight muscles. Such a reasonable price. I’ll be back again soon.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
