From the reviews

Dr. Bailey at Roots Acupuncture is absolutely amazing! I was staying in the area of simpsonville over the summer and found Roots. A few weeks before I was diagnosed with some form autoimmune condition. With lots of research, I found that acupuncture would help with inflammation in my body.

★★★★★ — Lisa, Sep 2024

I loved my first visit with Kelly. I felt like my meeting with her was a hopeful means of moving forward in dealing with my condition. The herbal blend that she made me was very specific to a symptom I had told her about that was very bothersome to me.

★★★★★ — Morgan, Jan 2024

I’m so grateful for Kelly’s deep expertise and her intuitive practice. Beyond the gentility and ease of her needle and cupping placements, I value how adept she is at catering each session according to what my body is communicating. Her apothecary and presence are second to none!

★★★★★ — Phillip, Oct 2023

I had never tried acupuncture but needed some major assistance on my hip and all I can say is it’s totally worth it. Kelly’s space is SUPER clean and she does an excellent job walking you through the process of how it works. I felt super relaxed afterwards and my hip felt significantly better!

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
