From the reviews

I recommend Nexus Acupuncture & Healing Center with the highest regard. It's been my good fortune to have studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoist Neigung for 20 years and Traditional Chinese Gung Fu for 31 years.

★★★★★ — A., Jul 2020

I have suffered from anxiety disorder for most of my life, and was referred to Hannalisa for trauma support. The effects were immediately noticeable, before she'd even finished putting in all the needles. I was given such a profound sense of calmness. I left feeling grounded and centered.

★★★★★ — Hadley, Jul 2021

There is a quality to Hannalisa's care that is unmatched by other acupuncturists I've been to. She has a gentle technique and an attention to detail that I greatly appreciate. I am always impressed by how knowledgeable she is about so many aspects of health.

★★★★★ — Stacey, Dec 2020

I had a really great experience at Nexus. I have had pretty bad neck/shoulder/head pain for quite awhile. I could really feel that Hannalisa knew what she was doing and got all the places that needed it. The environment was very soothing.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
