From the reviews

I started going to Greg Bryson at New River Healing Arts after a recent motorcycle accident. Before seeing Greg, I suffered from bad pain in my low back and hip. I was limping around and could only go up stairs by pulling myself up using a railing. Greg talked with me in depth about my injuries and medical history.

Just had my first life-changing experience here and can't wait to go back. I've suffered from chronic pain since 2010 largely due to a car accident that caused a lot of imbalance in my body. I've tried massage, chiropractors, physical therapy, muscle activation, and more.

★★★★★ — Kristen, Apr 2022

I came in with a pulled back that hurt so, so badly. He took an in depth medical history, mapped out his treatment plan, and gave me a very therapeutic hour and a half massage that helped my pain at least 70%. The relief was incredible, and he is very skilled at what he does.

★★★★★ — Andrea, Nov 2019

Greg is very gifted and skilled. He has a diverse understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system, which he uses to incorporate an array of techniques to improve any ailments you may have.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
