I'm new to massage and it wasn't until my 3rd or 4th visit today that I was no longer uncertain if it was for me. I've realized no two massage therapists are the same and they pretty much have their own techniques.
Michelle is a professional clinician who was thorough & responsive during intake. She offered compassion while asking all the right questions and allowing space for me to feel safe to share. Michelle came up with an approach to this acupuncture session that was the perfect fit for me.
As always excellent service and therapists. I have been using Medical Massage and Acupuncture for several years and would highly recommend the facility to anyone who is in need of massage therapy. What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
