From the reviews
I have been a patient of Kristen's for more than 7 years. From allergies to my skin challenge, I have found Kristen to be not only helpful, but a great listener with strong support and knowledge!. She knows me better than any doctor and I have complete faith in her! The office is always so helpful, kind, and peaceful!
As a first-time acupuncture patient, I was nervous about my first appointment. However, my nerves quickly faded upon meeting Kristen. She is an excellent listener and makes sure to fully understand your issues before treating them.
I have several herniated discs. The neurologist did not recommend any kind of surgery, but rather told me to limit sitting as much as possible, even to the point of standing to do my work on the computer, as I am an online professor.
I came to Live Oak Acupuncture six months after my diagnosis with a very advanced stage of premature ovarian failure –one of the hardest diseases in the world to treat or have hope for. Kristen had both hope and was willing to treat me. Yet, she wisely cautioned me about the severity of my condition.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
