From the reviews
I underwent artificial disc replacement surgery in Korea in my mid-20s. For nearly 20 years since then, I have managed recurring pain through various exercise therapies, physical therapy, and medical procedures.
After years of dealing with persistent neck, shoulder, and back pain from long hours at a desk (and a new sprained ankle injury), I finally decided to try acupuncture—and I’m so grateful I met Dr. Se-young (Sean) Kim.
My MD/Surgeons course of treatment Involved acupuncture as part of my therapy for the recovery of a broken shoulder. As an American/German I was very hesitant to seek Acupuncture as a course of treatment. I received a referral list from my medical provider and ended up choosing Kena Kim Acupuncture.
I had an amazing experience at this acupuncture clinic. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel comfortable and welcome. The environment is clean, peaceful, and very relaxing. Most importantly, the treatment truly helped me.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
