From the reviews
Hands down the best body work in the South Bay. I have been coming to Lisa Marie at LA Bodywork for about 12 months now for various injuries and muscle tightness. Lisa Marie is a godsend. She is very knowledgeable on various techniques (massage, stretching, scraping, cupping, etc.
I've had back/hip issues for the last few years and bounced between chiro, deep tissue massage, and stretching spots, but nothing has been able to help as much as LA Bodywork.
I’ve been seeing Ryan for a few months to help with my lower back pain and overall mobility. Within a few sessions he was able to identify where my weaknesses were and provided instructions on how to improve moving forward. The stretch work is also the best I’ve ever had.
I have been going to Lisa for the past 7 years and also recently started seeing Hannah as well. As an 18x marathoner and youth track and field/cross country coach, bodywork is an essential part of my injury prevention and training routine, but I've learned over the years that you can't entrust this with just anyone.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
