I have been visiting Bret Ressler for a massage for four months and am thoroughly impressed by every aspect of the experience. The space was impeccably clean and thoughtfully arranged, creating an environment that felt both comfortable and calming from the moment I arrived.
I recently attended a spiritual retreat where massage therapist Bret had been selected to provide each attendee a 30 minute shoulder massage. And if I was limited to just one word to describe my massage experience that day, the word I would use is “wowza”.
Bret is an incredible massage therapist. I regularly struggle with tension in my neck, head, face, and lower back. I also get regular massages, but this review is after my first time with Bret. Not only did he address each of those areas, but he understood the source of the tension and chased the knots down.
I had sound healing during the session and it helped get into a deeper relaxation. He provided a customized massage tailored to my needs and it really helped decrease my overall pain. He has many modalities he incorporates during the session. I was asked throughout the session on the pressure.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
