I recently had the Cosmetic Acupuncture treatment with Dr. Won, and I can’t express how impressed I was with the results. The session started with cupping and a neck and shoulder massage, which immediately began to release the tension I’d been carrying around.
I got a Groupon for a session and I wasn't disappointed. I was interested in lymphatic massage as well as cupping and acupuncture. To have all 3 in 1 is great. Dr. Sumi Won was very patient, kind and knowledgeable about Korean/Chinese medicine. I have recommended her to my friends.
It was my first time getting cupping and acupuncture but Dr. Sumi made me feel super comfortable with the whole process. Our initial session involved a detailed consultation where she really listened to my concerns and explained what treatment areas we should focus on based on that.
What a relaxing experience both physically and spiritually. Dr. Sumi’s cupping device has settings catered to my comfort level. She also has exceptional accupuncture skills. She gave me sound advice about fertility since I am trying to conceive.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
