From the reviews

Mia has treated me a few times for chronic issues, such as hip pain, headaches, and sleep problems. Her pre-treatment consultations are thorough and thoughtful. More recently, she has been helping me with postpartum fatigue, lactation issues and sciatica.

★★★★★ — Tina, Oct 2019

Mia at Healing Haven Acupuncture is absolutely wonderful. I have been to other acupuncturists but I have never had an experience quite as relaxing as I do when I am in her care.

★★★★★ — Kat, Aug 2020

I found Mia about a year ago and it has been a wonderful experience getting to know her and working on my acupuncture needs. I had never tried acupuncture before and she made me feel very comfortable and explained how everything works.

★★★★★ — Kristen, Dec 2020

I've been going to Mia for almost 4 years. I began getting regular acupuncture to help balance out my hormones and support my monthly cycle. I can say that regular visits have made all the difference. Less mood swings and less symptoms overall. I also add Cosmetic Acupuncture during my monthly appointment.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
