From the reviews
I have had many acupuncture treatments from Tara. She is amazing. I always leave feeling better. I had several massages from Peter over a muscle problem. I limped in and walked out without pain. Hawthorn is my go-to place for body care. They are excellent practitioners and sweet, caring people too.
Tara is an extraordinary healer, a highly skilled acupuncturist, and a kind soul. I received acupuncture treatments for a specific health issue over several months, and experienced such a significant improvement that my doctor (who had said that surgery was my only option) was in disbelief.
The healers at Show Me Optimal Health are amazing. Around 2010 I was in a very bad place physically and emotionally then I met Tara and began my healing journey. She is an amazing and skilled healer and has helped me beyond words; she is an Earth Angel.
In the beginning, I saw Peter for massage 1-2 days a week for a back injury that needed 10 months of physical therapy. Now I just go in for a tune up every 2-3 months as sports medicine related injuries pop up.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
